Terms & Conditions

Introduction

These Terms and Conditions apply to all work carried out by Trident Spray-Finish ("the Contractor") for the client ("the Customer"). By accepting a quotation, paying a booking fee, or allowing work to begin, the Customer agrees to these terms.

1. Scope of Work

The Contractor will carry out spray-finishing and associated preparation work as detailed in the agreed quotation. Any additional work requested outside the original scope may be subject to extra charges and schedule changes, which will be agreed before proceeding.

2. Quotations

All quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Prices may be subject to change after this period.

3. Payments

A deposit may be required to secure a start date. Deposits are non-refundable unless the Contractor cancels the work. For larger or longer projects, staged payments may be agreed. The balance is due in full on the day of completion. Failure to make payment may result in suspension of work and recovery action for outstanding sums.

4. Access and Site Conditions

The Customer must provide clear, safe access to the work area, along with electricity, lighting, and where reasonably required, access to water and toilet facilities. Parking arrangements or permit costs must be covered by the Customer where applicable.

5. Customer Preparation Responsibilities

The Customer is responsible for removing or protecting personal belongings, appliances, and non-fixed items. Surfaces to be sprayed should be reasonably clean and free of grease, dust, and debris. Failure to carry out required preparation may result in additional charges.

6. Materials, Parts and Fittings on Site

During the project, the Contractor may position doors, panels, fittings, and hardware in specific locations as part of the spraying and curing process. These items are placed where they are for a reason and must not be moved or interfered with. The Contractor is not responsible for defects or damage caused by third-party interference.

7. Temporary Wall to Encapsulated Areas

Where required, the Contractor may install a temporary wall to encapsulated areas using tapes or fixings to protect surrounding areas during spraying. While every care is taken, the Contractor cannot guarantee that existing surfaces such as painted plasterboard, wallpaper, or previously decorated finishes will not be affected when masking materials are applied or removed. In some cases, minor lifting of paint, surface marks, or damage to weak or poorly bonded finishes may occur.

The Contractor will take reasonable care during the installation and removal of protection materials but cannot accept responsibility for defects in underlying surfaces or pre-existing decorative finishes.

8. Overspray and Dust

Spray finishing involves airborne coatings. Minor overspray or dust may occasionally occur despite careful masking and extraction. Where overspray directly caused by the Contractor is identified, reasonable steps will be taken to rectify the issue.

9. Drying and Curing

Spray finishes require adequate drying and curing time. The Customer must not touch or use sprayed surfaces until advised they are ready. The Contractor is not liable for marks or damage caused by premature use.

10. Colour Matching and Finish

While we provide a colour-matching service, matches are made as close as possible within the limitations of the materials, but we cannot guarantee an exact match. Variations in lighting, surface texture, and material may affect final appearance.

11. Previously Drilled Handle Holes and Surface Repairs

Where existing handles, knobs, or fittings have been removed or repositioned, the Contractor may fill and prepare the resulting holes before spraying. Although reasonable care will be taken to achieve the best possible finish, filled areas may remain slightly visible due to the original hole size, position, substrate condition, previous repairs, or movement in the underlying material. Minor imperfections, indentations, raised areas, or differences in texture may therefore remain visible in the finished surface, particularly under certain lighting conditions.

The Customer accepts that filling previously drilled holes is a repair to an existing surface and that a completely invisible or factory-new result cannot be guaranteed. Any additional remedial or replacement work required to improve the underlying surface beyond the preparation included in the quotation may be charged separately, subject to the Customer’s agreement.

12. Other Trades and Damage

Where multiple trades are involved, Trident Spray-Finish should be the final trade on site wherever possible. All sprayed surfaces are allowed a minimum of 72 hours to cure and allow residual VOCs to dissipate before being reinstalled. The Contractor is not responsible for damage to sprayed surfaces caused by other tradespeople or third parties, or for issues arising where freshly sprayed surfaces have to be covered, masked or enclosed to protect them from subsequent works. Covering or enclosing newly sprayed surfaces may restrict ventilation and prolong the curing process or residual product odours. Any resulting damage, prolonged odour, delayed curing or remedial work will not be the responsibility of the Contractor, and any rectification required will be chargeable to the Customer.

13. Limitations of Service

Silicone sealants and certain surfaces may not accept paint reliably. The Contractor must be informed if these areas should be excluded. The Contractor does not disconnect or move major appliances unless agreed in advance. Waste materials remain the Customer’s responsibility for disposal unless otherwise agreed.

14. Delays

The Contractor is not responsible for delays caused by other trades, site readiness, material supply issues, weather conditions, or events beyond reasonable control.

15. Warranty and Liability

The Contractor will rectify workmanship defects directly attributable to the application process within a reasonable period. This does not cover misuse, impact damage, cleaning chemicals, cooking oils, normal wear and tear, or environmental factors. Liability is limited to the value of the work carried out. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or affects statutory rights.

16. Maintenance and Care of Sprayed Finishes

All items sprayed by Trident Spray-Finish become bespoke painted surfaces and should be maintained accordingly. Sprayed finishes are highly durable and resistant to household chemicals to a reasonable degree, but they are not indestructible. We recommend cleaning only with a soft damp microfibre cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleaners (such as plant-based products like Method). Abrasive pads, scouring products, bleach, solvents, or harsh chemical cleaners must not be used as they may damage the finish. Surfaces should be wiped regularly to prevent build-up of grease, moisture, or staining substances. Spillages should be cleaned promptly. Excessive scrubbing, impact damage, prolonged exposure to water, steam, oils, or strong chemicals may reduce the lifespan of the coating.

Where specialist coatings are applied to uPVC, garage doors, windows, or similar surfaces, the systems used are based on products that may carry manufacturer performance expectations of up to 10 years depending on exposure, colour, environment, and maintenance. Longevity depends on correct aftercare and environmental conditions.

Damage caused by neglect, harsh cleaning, impact, abrasion, chemical exposure outside normal household use, or lack of maintenance is not considered a workmanship defect.

17. Insurance

The Contractor holds valid Public Liability Insurance. Proof of cover can be provided on request.

18. Photography and Marketing

The Contractor may take photographs of completed work for portfolio and marketing purposes. Customers who object must notify the Contractor in writing before work begins.

19. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms affects the Customer’s statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Work will be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and any agreed issues will be put right within a reasonable time.

20. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Acceptance

By paying a booking fee, accepting a quotation, or allowing work to commence, the Customer confirms acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
